than reduce by one iota the patient's comfort or happiness;
and they consider it would be "nothing short of murder" to
remove her from the circle of friends she has now made for
herself "to a cheap asylum".
In view of these facts it might be said that having
voluntarily brought themselves to their present necessitous
condition they cannot obtain the assistance they apply for
under the Statute referred to.
On behalf of the petitioner however I venture to hope
that the fact that her present difficulties are the result of
her self-sacrificing devotion to her afflicted child may not
disentitle her to any consideration she might otherwise
expect to receive.
I may add that Mrs. Deane's only near relation is an
only sister, with an invalid husband and a very limited
income, who has from time contributed small sums towards the
patient's expenses.
